About The Small Fix
The Small Fix started from a simple frustration: most advice about money, home organization, focus, and wellbeing is either too vague to act on, or so ambitious it doesn't survive a real, busy week. We wanted a place for the smaller, more specific version — the thing you can actually start today, not the thing you'll get to eventually.
What we publish, and why it looks different from post to post
You'll notice two kinds of writing here. Most posts are short, practical, single-idea pieces — a specific habit or rule, explained in a few minutes. A smaller number are longer, first-person accounts of something one of us actually went through: paying off debt, recovering from burnout, decluttering a kitchen over months rather than a weekend. We write the long ones when a short tip wouldn't tell the truth about how something actually goes — with the false starts included, not just the version that worked.
Who writes here
Maya Reyes writes most of the money and focus pieces, generally from things she's tested in her own budgeting and work habits. Jonah Pierce writes most of the home and wellbeing pieces, usually after trying a system in his own house or routine long enough to know where it actually breaks down. Neither of us claims to be a financial advisor, doctor, or therapist — where a topic touches on health or money decisions with real consequences, we say so plainly and point you toward a professional instead of pretending otherwise.
How we decide what to write about
Mostly from our own daily friction — the thing that was annoying enough to actually fix, and specific enough to write down clearly once it was fixed. We're not trying to cover every topic; we're trying to write the posts that were worth writing, even if that means publishing less often some weeks than others.
